The Redwood Tango Trio is an energetic tango ensemble from San Francisco. The trio (bandoneon, violin, piano) plays traditional and original Argentine tango arrangements, mostly of the classic “golden era” tango orchestras from the 40’s and 50’s. The group also ventures into concert pieces and nuevo-tango of Astor Piazzolla, Sexteto Mayor, and modern ensembles around the world.
Redwood Tango was the featured orchestra for Chicago Tango Week 2013, and has performed for milongas and concerts in the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Portland, Chicago, Montreal, London, NYC and dozens of cities in between. The ensemble keeps an active presence in the bay area tango scene, regularly playing for tango dancers and listeners alike.
