Mixing together taste and passion of the best Gypsy, Russian, Ukrainian, klezmer and Balkan musical traditions, Chervona brings the fire of Eastern European carnivals to the land of America. With their authenticity and genuine fire Chervona has stolen many hearts. Shining with their brass section and capturing soul with the traditional sounds of the old world and new interpretations, Chervona transforms a celebration into an ultimate party! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and pretty underwear – Chervona’s parties are known for people dancing all night and taking off their clothes!

The band started practicing in Nov of 2006, and within first weeks of its existence they played at “Gypsymania” – gypsy dance discotheque created by Gogol Bordello’s debaucher D.J. Dimon. After their first public appearances they rapidly gained popularity in their hometown. In 2007 Chervona played some special appearances with world famous Manu Chao and Gogol Bordello. By 2009 Chervona have shared stage with most exciting and famous Portland’s bands including March Forth, 3 Leg Torso, Vagabond Opera, Portland Cello Project and many more.

In addition to countless street and club performances around pacific NW Chervona has played quite a few big stages, among them: Bite of Oregon, Northwest Folk Life festival in Seattle, Slavic Festival and Oregon Country Fair in Eugene, Red Marines festival in California, Under Volcano Festival in Vancouver (BC), Portland Polish Festival, Portland Pirate Festival, April Fool’s Day Carnivals, Revolution Party in Portland and many others.

In 2011, second monthly event was added to the calender – Chervona Secret Night on every second Saturday on a month at Secret Society Ballroom. Their second show in January 2011 at Secret Society was sold out and made a record for the clubs cocktail sales – the audience danced so hard that everyone got very thursty.

As year 2011 is in porogress, Chervona is focusing on producing new audio and video materials and establishing it’s e-net presence to gain more a solid fan base for the upcomming US and Europe tour and major label CD release.

Chervona’s repertoire includes traditional hits from the late 19th century with a Gypsy, Russian and Eastern European flavor. That’s not the limit of their ability, however. They easily adapt pieces from a diverse number of cultures and are constantly composing original material as well. Their songs have been described as “funny, sarcastic, educational, socially conscious and beautiful.” Their lyrics aren’t limited to a single language, either; they sing in English, Russian, Spanish, Polish and German.

Chervona’s first 6 song EP “Quick and Dirty” was self-produced, published and first a thousand copies were sold during Chervona shows in 2008 and 2009.
Chervona’s second EP “Chervona beat my heart!” was recorded in 2008 and will hit the streets only by the Spring of 2011.
