Les Amis Zydeco plays Zydeco, some Cajun, and a little bit of blues. We play for the DANCERS. Songs are chosen for their danceability, based on Dwight’s decades long experience as a dancer. We love to see y’all GO.
The band make up for this year’s Cotati gig is as follows:
Dwight Shackelford – originally from Houma, La, Deep South Louisiana. Plays accordion and vocals, played rubboard in Gator Beat, and started Les Amis Zydeco in 2009.
Gus Garelick – Fiddle: has played with Queen Ida, Jim Boggio and the Sonoma Swamp Dogs , The Wild Catahoulas, The Hot Frittatas, and numerous other groups.
Nazar Eljumaily – Guitar: has played with Gator Beat, Wildwood Weed, and many other bands
Louie Rodriguez – Drums: has playedwith Gator Beat, Tri Tip Trio, Funky Gators, Mark St. Mary, T Luke and the Tight Suits, Louisiana TIme Travelers, Back Porchestra, Rhythm Town Jive, Rosetown Ramblers….
Dennis Calloway – Bass: has played with Queen Ida, Motor Dude Zydeco, and numerous other bands in and out of the genre.
