Ilya Kreymer and Luz Gaxiola play balkan, klezmer, and other European folk music classics arranged for two accordions. Ilya Kreymer is based in San Francisco and plays with the klezmer band Krekhts and Luz Gaxiola is based Washington State and plays mostly for clown shows and theatrical productions. She has performed previously at Cotati with the Accordion Babes and Circus Finelli, and can currently be seen roving the festival in a giant pizza costume.
Ilya and Luz met on their way to the Cotati accordion festival with Skyler Fell 20 years ago and have been playing accordions together ever since. They are thrilled to reunite with Skyler and play a few tunes together as an accordion trio on the Accordion Apocalypse Stage.
Mr. Pizza Fabuloso aka Luz Gaxiola
Luz Gaxiola will be roving the festival throughout the weekend, delivering an accordion-pizza performance as Mr. Pizza Fabuloso. Luz is a clown and accordionist, and has performed at the Cotati Accordion Festival previously with the Accordion Babes and Circus Finelli. She will also perform a non-pizza set with Ilya Kreymer on Saturday afternoon at the Accordion Apocalypse Stage.
