These Future Stars are not only helping keep the accordion alive in Sonoma County—they are bringing the music to life in every way. Each year, we are amazed by the growing number of young players and the incredible talent they bring to the Main Stage.
The Future Stars presentation was created by Marjorie Konrad as a way to give young accordionists the opportunity to experience the excitement of performing before a large and appreciative audience. After many years of guiding the program, Marjorie passed the torch to Janeen Murray, one of her own accordion students.
Janeen has done a wonderful job carrying on Marjorie’s vision, dedicating countless hours, creativity, and passion to making Future Stars a success. Her commitment to promoting young accordionists goes beyond the festival as she also organizes accordion performances every Friday at all four Oliver’s locations, helping keep accordion music visible throughout our community.
The Cotati Accordion Festival has always celebrated the joy of music today while investing in the future of the accordion. Through programs like Future Stars, the Student Scholarship Program, and the Accordion Apocalypse Stage, we continue to create opportunities for musicians of all ages to share their talents and keep this beloved tradition growing.
Today, we celebrate these young musicians while building the foundation for many more years of accordion music to come.
