The Loose Acoustic Trio (Sacramento, CA.) is comprised of accordion, guitjo, mandolin, upright bass and 3-part harmonies. The Loose Acoustic songbook reflects its instrumentation. Elements of folk, blues, old time country and Cajun, including original tunes from Ken Cooper (6 string banjo and mandolin) and Richie Lawrence (accordion), contribute to a distinctive, traditional roots style with a contemporary twist. Throw in Ken Rabiroff (stand-up bass) and it all mixes together to create a good time gumbo that’s guaranteed to make you smile. Great songs, vocal harmonies and unique instrumentation produce a stripped down, infectious, Americana sound.
The band is proud to announce the release of their new CD, “Brand New Mind”, available through the band’s web site (www.looseacoustictrio.com) and CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com). With the addition of tuba, bowed cello, fiddle and soprano saxophone, the trio presents 12 original tunes plus the traditional song “Crow Black Chicken”.
Michael Leahy, host of “Cool As Folk” radio show on KDVS in Davis, CA., writes:
“From Sacramento, CA., The Loose Acoustic Trio has released one of my favorite albums of 2005. It’s full of well-written, fun, original tunes straight from the Central Valley. These guys deliver accordion, banjo and giant fiddle madness on Brand New Mind.”
Billy Fields, National Sales Director for Warner Music Group, had this to say:
“You guys have done a great job with this thing. The mix is fantastic. The songs are great. I can’t believe I’m saying this about accordion, banjo, mandolin and knuckle-head harmonies, but it’s really well done.”
The Loose Acoustic Trio has performed at many different venues since their inception. They have been featured entertainers at the 2004 California State Fair, the 2004 Sacramento County Fair and the 2005 Candy Festival (Fairfield, CA.). Other clients include Old Sacramento’s “Gold Rush Days” for the past five years, the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Farmer’s Markets in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Country Club Plaza, Davis and Fair Oaks/Sunrise, COPIA (Napa, CA.), Café Milazzo, the Fox and Goose, the Distillery, Cooper’s Saloon (Nevada City, CA.), the Chalk It Up Festival and many schools throughout the Sacramento region.
