Compelling Harmonic Voices — Where Folk, Country and Bluegrass Converge

Misty River (a Portland, Oregon band) performs a wide variety of Americana music from familiar folk, country and bluegrass favorites to Celtic tunes, haunting ballads and award-winning original songs. Northwest audiences have been captivated by this all female acoustic quartet (two of whom are mother and daughter) who support their beautiful blend of harmonic voices with unique blends of guitar, fiddle, accordion, banjo and bass.
Misty River announces the release of their first CD, “Rising” in June 2000, where they partner with Dale Adkins to produce a spectacular project of ten songs, half originals and half traditionals. Guest artists are: John Reischman, mandolin; Glen Moore, arco bass; Dale Adkins, guitar; and Bill Storms, Dobro.
Together since July 1997, Misty River’s 1999 and 2000 credits include numerous first place wins in local band and songwriting contests, including the Portland Songwriter’s Association and the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival.
The group performed at the regional Lilith Fair Talent Search as semi-finalists and recently won the West Coast Regional spot in the “Best Unsigned Band” contest sponsored by Zideo.com.
Misty River has been amazing audiences & impressing promoters with hundreds of exciting and memorable performances. The band also offers very popular, interactive vocal harmony workshops and workshops for children. Misty River performs at venues that include: folk and bluegrass festivals, state and county fairs, colleges, civic events and city park concerts, numerous theatre and coffeehouse concerts, pubs and restaurants, weddings, and corporate and private parties.
Events for 2001 include Wintergrass (Tacoma, WA), NW Folklife (Seattle, WA), The Telluride Bluegrass Festival (band contest), The Strawberry Music Festival, (Yosemite, CA), The Sisters Folk Festival (OR), The Walnut Valley Festival (Winfield, Kansas), Byron Berline’s Oklahoma International Bluegrass Festival and Dollywood in Tennessee as well as numerous radio and television interviews.
Misty River consists of Christine Kokesh on fiddle & guitar, Carol Harley on guitar & banjo, Laura Quigley on bass & Dana Abel on accordion & guitar.
