Gypsy Jazz Inspired Women
Founded in Sonoma County in 2009, the Haute Flash Quartet plays and shares a love of gypsy jazz, French musette waltzes, American swing, and more.
This all-woman quartet’s repertoire is rooted in the rich melodies that emanated from French cafes in the ‘30s and ‘40s, along with the gypsy jazz that originated with late guitarist Django Reinhardt and continues to be played by many (but maybe not so many women) to this day. Add swinging American vocal tunes and sprinkle in a bit of novelty, and the Haute Flash Quartet’s unique blend of hard-driving rhythms, captivating melodies, and lush, 3-part vocal harmonies pleases audiences everywhere—getting them off their seats and on their feet!
The Haute Flash Quartet is: Rhonda Berney—mandolin and vocals; Jan Kahdeman—guitar and vocals; Karol Kopley—accordion and vocals; Tami Pallingston—string bass.
