I had every intention of writing my annual review of the just completed Cotati Accordion Festival.
However, I thought I might let a few of the performer statements suffice this time.
David Golia and Big Lou stopped by and let me know that, “it was the best time ever this year at the festival!”
Sourdough Slim took me aside and told me that,…” this was the best crowd yet to perform in front of”.
The members of Califas saw me in the hospitality tent and came up to me beaming….:”it was a total blast! We would love it if you would have us back”.
Stas Vengleveski asked …”can I come back and play both days next time? The audience is so incredible”.
Pete Contino sent the message…”I had a great time at the festival! Thank you!”
Ricardo Zegri from 5 Cent Coffee sent a note…”Just wanted to pass on from me and the rest of the band that we had a grand time playing at the festival this year. The crowd was magic and the whole crew were amazing.. Well done, looking forward to next year!”
Alejandro Brittes, who’s English is limited, hugged me and said..” I want you to know how much this moment means to me”. That is what he thought about coming from Argentina and playing in Cotati.
An officer who performed with the United States Air Force Band(who we will be having back in the near future as they were both a big hit and extremely talented) told me he …” was so excited to play our festival and the experience was even much more than he had anticipated.”
“We are still on an emotional high from the energy of your crowds!” Discos Resaca/Las Mariposas.
Mimi Pirard, of Somomusette told me that she…”had the most wonderful time performing for our audience”.
Janet Gingher of Spanky’s told me that for her, “the weekend of zydeco, both inside and outside of Spanky’s, was their best weekend of their whole year”.
Ron Borelli opened up the weekend and he declared that….” the early crowd was big and extremely receptive to the song list that I performed”.
By no means is this the end of the list of performers that contacted me in one way or another to express how much they enjoyed playing this year, but I am running out of space.
In reality, I should be the one thanking them all as they are the ones who gave the audience such a great experience.
