Cila Puccadella is the musical project of Elena Ricciardi, who grew up just an hour south of Cotati. While Elena enjoys popular tunes from the Mediterranean, she revels in playing esoteric folk music learned from old recordings. What’s more, while she plays mostly Italian music, she has not limited her repertoire to a certain country. Instead, Elena plays songs from throughout the Mediterranean region. Elena is joined by Christopher Booth on fiddle, a long time Cotati Accordion festival performer and band leader of the New Orleans based jazz band Eight Dice Cloth. Come dance to the mournful yet triumphantly joyful music of Cila Puccadella— or at least, close your eyes and imagine the world of long ago that these beautiful songs belong to.
